Our 10-week hands-on program teaches you openEHR fundamentals to building advanced, real-world applications—learn by doing and gain practical skills.
"I have learned more in this class in the last month than I have professionally, like in three years total."
Michelle Currie · MS at RN
"What this class is helping me do is have the vocabulary to talk to these developers who are building software for us."
Andrew Rose · Director at Boulder Emotional Wellness
Healthcare is inherently complex, and openEHR is designed to model that complexity accurately. This makes it powerful, but harder to understand without proper guidance.
Navigating the openEHR specifications, Reference Model and the Clinical Knowledge Manager (CKM) can quickly become overwhelming for developers and implementers.
This is a hands-on openEHR training program designed to take you from clinical concepts to real-world templates and applications.
You will build 5 openEHR apps in 10 weeks. You get structured learning, experienced mentors, a peer-group to learn with, and access to our library of openEHR tutorials and reference material.
Every bootcamp starts with a free kick-off session. You will be introduced to the first openEHR template you’ll build, along with the fundamentals of openEHR app development.
Our promise? In 2 weeks, you will have a fully functional openEHR template you can demo.
Get access to a curated library of expert-led openEHR tutorials, designed for learning by building. We cover core concepts like archetypes, templates, REST APIs, and Reference Model classes.
As a bonus you’ll also get beginner-friendly, hands-on coding tutorials.
Book individual sessions with our expert tutors for any help you need. To understand the Reference Model better, or to review your modelling approach, we’ve got you.
Each time you build an app, demo it to your peers. Get feedback from fellow implementers and learn different approaches. You may even meet your future collaborator here!
Complete the bootcamp and earn a certificate that validates your hands-on experience with openEHR modelling and application development.
This isn’t just theory but proof that you’ve worked with archetypes, templates, and real-world openEHR use cases end-to-end.
Join our bootcamp and gain hands-on experience building real-world healthcare applications.
Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.
We run 3 cohorts per year to help learners stay accountable and finish all 5 applications in 10 weeks. Cohorts usually include 20–25 participants, but joining is optional and many learners complete the bootcamp asynchronously.
Yes, cohort participants attend weekly live sessions to stay on track and review progress.
Meetings take place every Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM EST. The first session is a kickoff explaining what you’ll build, followed by a demo session where you present your app.
Joining a cohort is optional. Many learners complete the program on their own, and recordings of all live sessions are available on the training platform.
Your orientation to the bootcamp
In this module, you will create your first openEHR template using tools like the Archetype Designer.
In this module, you'll build a web app where patients can record their vital signs (e.g., temperature, blood pressure).
In this module, you'll model a complex real-world paper form into reusable archetypes and templates.
In this module, you'll build a practitioner-facing app that captures the detailed assessment form modelled earlier.
In this module, you'll build a dashboard to visualize patient-reported as well as clinician-recorded data.
