About Medblocks

Medblocks is building a developer-focused “stack for healthcare” that makes it possible for anyone to build applications that integrate directly with clinical workflows without rebuilding expensive Electronic Medical Records systems. We believe code has the potential to save more lives than doctors can by themselves.

Founded by doctors-turned-programmers, our team leverages open, vendor-neutral standards like openEHR, FHIR, SMART, and SNOMED CT to create a platform that makes healthcare data accessible, interoperable, and useful.

Our Culture

We’re a remote-first team that values deep work, clear communication, and continuous learning. We’re building technology that matters, and we’re looking for individuals who want their code to make a difference in healthcare.

The Role: Video Editor (Long‑form + Shorts)

Own post‑production across our content ecosystem (YouTube podcasts, course lessons, webinars, conference talks, product explainers, social cuts). You’ll turn expert conversations and technical demos into crisp, high‑retention stories—then package them for multiple platforms.

What you’ll do

  • Edit long‑form interviews, webinars, and course lessons into compelling narratives (pacing, b‑roll, screen captures, callouts, chaptering).
  • Cut short‑form (Shorts/Reels/LinkedIn) from long content with strong hooks, subtitles, and punchy pacing.
  • Motion graphics using brand‑consistent lower thirds, infographics, UI/diagram animations, and MOGRT templates.
  • Audio cleanup (de‑noise, EQ, compression, loudness to platform spec) and color correction/grading with LUTs or node‑based workflows.
  • Thumbnails & packaging: collaborate on titles/descriptions; design scroll‑stopping thumbnails; A/B test variants.
  • Captions & accessibility: generate/clean SRTs, burned‑in subs for shorts; manage transcripts.
  • Workflow & speed: proxy workflows, media management, versioning, and templates for repeatable series.
  • Analytics‑aware iteration: read retention curves & CTR; propose edits to improve watch time and completion.
  • Collaboration: work with founders and SMEs to shape narratives from raw recordings (Riverside/Zoom/OBS). On‑site coordination for studio setups.

Tooling we use (nice if you already do)

Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator/Figma, Frame.io/Drive, Descript/AutoPod‑style assistants, Ecamm Live.

Requirements

Must have

  • 3+ years of professional video editing with shipped long‑form pieces and a portfolio of shorts.
  • Strong Premiere or Resolve skills (multicam, proxies, dynamic relinking, markers, adjustment layers).
  • After Effects for motion graphics (lower thirds, callouts, animated diagrams, MOGRTs).
  • Audio finishing: noise reduction, EQ, compression, music/SFX selection, platform loudness targets.
  • Color: primary correction, LUTs, consistent skin tones; basic secondary corrections.
  • Captions & deliverables: SRT/burned‑in, aspect ratios (16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5), bitrates, codecs (H.264/H.265/ProRes).
  • Proven ability to increase retention and craft strong openings/hooks; familiarity with YouTube Studio metrics.
  • Excellent file hygiene: project structure, asset naming, versioning, backups.
  • Ability to self‑manage and ship on time in a high‑autonomy, on‑site environment.

Nice to have

  • Thumbnail design chops (Photoshop/Illustrator/Figma) with examples of CTR improvements.
  • Experience turning webinars into course modules (modular edits, lesson intros/outros).
  • Diagram/infographic animation for technical topics (APIs, data flow, standards).
  • OBS/live switching, basic camera/lighting knowledge, on‑site recording experience.
  • Scripting small automation (Whisper batching, subtitle cleanup, FFmpeg watch‑folders).
  • Experience in regulated industries or privacy‑sensitive content workflows.
  • Comfort with healthcare/tech topics (FHIR/openEHR) or willingness to learn fast.

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a “clip factory” doing only raw social cuts - craft and storytelling matter.
  • Not an agency account role with layers of approvals - you’ll work directly with founders and ship.
  • Not a pure filming job - this is primarily post‑production, motion, packaging, and iteration.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay for top talent.
  • In‑office studio access/equipment; budget for plugins, music/SFX, and templates.
  • High autonomy; direct collaboration with founders.
  • Transparent company metrics.
  • Conference speaking & content authoring opportunities.
  • Team travel for meet‑ups/events.
  • Liberal leave; zero micromanagement.
  • Build content that advances open, AI‑powered healthcare.
