HL7 v2 Fundamentals Course
HL7 v2 is one of the widely adopted healthcare messaging standards for exchanging clinical and administrative data between different healthcare systems. Despite being a text-based standard which is flexible and simple, it can sometimes feel confusing, especially at first. It is basically used by systems in hospitals to interact and share information with each other and it’s triggered on certain events like when a patient is admitted or when an order is placed
This course will help you to navigate through the world of HL7 v2 step by step to eliminate such confusions. Dr. Sidharth Ramesh, Founder & CEO of Medblocks, will be your instructor for this course.
What this course offers
The course starts with a basic introduction of the HL7 v2, and why it is still one of the dominant standards. We will learn about the Structure of an HL7 message. What are all the elements that are used to create a valid HL7 v2 message. After gaining insight into the structure of the message, we will move towards designing our own HL7 v2 message. We will also look into “Why HL7 v2 as a standard was required”
We will also discuss in depth about the Data Types, Types of Segments in message, Message Type, and Message Profile
What you’ll able to do
By the end of this course, you will be able to read HL7 messages and also understand the concepts related to HL7 v2 such as segments, message types , field, components and sub-components. We’ll also learn which data type a field can carry, what information the entire message is trying to share, and you will also be able to write your own HL7 v2 message from scratch.
