LOC segment

The Technical Steward for the LOC segment is PA. The LOC segment can identify any patient location referenced by information systems. This segment gives physical set up information about the location. This is not intended to include any current occupant or current use information. There should be one LOC segment for each patient location. If desired, there can also be one LOC segment for each nursing unit and room. 8.9.2.0 LOC Field Definitions

Count the pipes to find a field, and count the empty ones too: an empty field still holds its place. Leave out the separator before LOC-2 and its value arrives as LOC-1, so the receiver stores Location Description as Primary Key Value - LOC.
