Chapter 03: Patient Administration
This chapter covers patients arriving, moving and leaving. It defines the ADT messages for admissions, transfers, discharges and registrations.
This chapter covers the events in a patient's stay: admission, transfer, discharge and registration. It also covers corrections to a patient's details and merges of duplicate records. These are the ADT messages. The main segments are PID for the patient and PV1 for the visit. Almost every system in a hospital receives ADT messages, because each system needs to know who the patient is and where they are. Most integration work starts here.
